Privacy Policy

What we do with the information you give us, in plain language.

Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Shoalhaven Tree Services handles personal information collected through the website shoalhaventreeservices.com.au. We aim to handle personal information in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Please read this alongside our Disclaimer, which explains that this website operates as a referral service and that tree work is carried out by independent local contractors.

Last updated: August 2026.

What we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us. When you submit an enquiry form or call us, that typically includes:

  • your name;
  • your phone number;
  • your email address, if you provide one;
  • the suburb, town or street address where the work is needed; and
  • a description of the job — for example the tree species, its size and location, whether it is storm damaged, and access details.

You do not have to give us your name. If you would rather stay anonymous or use a pseudonym, you can, but we may not be able to arrange a site visit or a quote without a way to contact you and an address for the work.

We do not ask for, and do not want, your financial details, government identifiers, or sensitive information such as health information.

How we collect it

Through the enquiry and contact forms on this website, which are delivered by a third-party form and lead-management provider, and through phone calls to (02) 4400 9336. Our website may also collect standard technical information automatically — see Cookies and analytics below.

Why we collect it, and who we share it with

We collect this information for one main purpose: to connect your enquiry with an independent local tree contractor who can quote and carry out the work.

That means we pass the details of your enquiry to a tree contractor operating in the Shoalhaven region. Once we do, that contractor handles your information under their own privacy practices, and they will contact you directly to arrange a quote or a site visit.

We may also use your information to:

  • respond to a question you have asked us;
  • follow up on an enquiry that has not been actioned; and
  • keep basic records of enquiries received.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not provide it to unrelated third parties for their own marketing.

Service providers

We use third-party services to run the website and handle enquiries — including website hosting, form and lead-management software, and email or SMS delivery. Those providers process information on our behalf, and some of them may store or process data on servers located outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to use reputable providers, but you should be aware that overseas providers may not be subject to Australian privacy law.

Cookies and analytics

This website may use cookies and standard web analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site — for example which pages are viewed and roughly where visitors are located. This information is used in aggregate to improve the website and is not used to identify you personally.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the site work.

Storage and security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including using reputable service providers and limiting access to enquiry records. No method of transmitting or storing information over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We keep enquiry records for as long as they are needed for the purpose above, and then destroy or de-identify them.

Marketing

If we contact you, it will normally be about the enquiry you submitted. If we ever send you a marketing message, it will include a way to opt out, and you can also tell us at any time on (02) 4400 9336 that you no longer wish to be contacted.

Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or ask us to delete it. Call (02) 4400 9336 and tell us what you need. We may ask you to verify your identity before acting on the request, and we will respond within a reasonable time. If we cannot give you access or make a correction, we will tell you why.

Because your enquiry may already have been passed to an independent contractor, you may also need to contact that contractor directly about information they hold.

Complaints

If you think your privacy has been mishandled, contact us first on (02) 4400 9336 so we can look into it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published on this page, with the last-updated date shown above.
